On February 27th, Pirate Camp lit up Phuket’s fitness scene by holding the 26.1 of the CrossFit Open switching an ordinary Friday into a high-energy spectacle of grindy grit, community, and competitive spirit.
The event held as “Friday Night Lights,” welcomed both RX competitors and everyday fitness enthusiasts to test themselves under authentic CrossFit Open conditions, complete with real-time judges, official recorded scores and a atmosphere that was electric from the first heat to the third heat and final reps.
The workout itself was a real test of lower-body endurance and mental fortitude. Athletes suffered through high-volume wall balls, box jump overs, and tiresome wall ball carry over box, a combination that quickly turned into a relentless leg burner and lung crusher. The programming was simple but punishing to execute and without a strategy, pacing, and sheer determination the athletes would become quickly exhausted.
What truly elevated the night was the vibe of the community and the spectators, bringing thunderous cheers, fist pumps, and edge-of-your-seat excitement that fired up all athletes on the floor. The energy was not only supportive, it was contagious.
Pirate Camp continues to establish itself as one of Phuket’s most consistent and passionate hubs for CrossFit. Much of that culture stems from its owners, Ryan and Jibby, whose dedication to the sport is relentless . Their commitment to creating an inclusive, high-performance environment has captivated a loyal and thriving community that shows up, and shows out, time and time again.
If 26.1 was any indication, Pirate Camp isn’t just hosting workouts, it’s building moments and memories that athletes will remember long after the soreness of the workouts fades.
